Negotiations for the 2009 Miss Star
Pageant to be held on the African continent are still ongoing
between two prospective countries, but are likely to be completed
soon, says Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kenneth Chung.
The staging of the international pageant
lies heavily on the host country's ability to meet the Select
and Advisory Committee criteria - high standard of accommodation
and hospitality, easy accessibility, comfortable transport and
telecommunication networks, security and the government's unwavering
commitment to the promotion of tourism.
A date will be announced, Mr. Chung said,
on completion of closed meetings between the Select and Advisory
Committee and the African countries. "We thought that negotiations
would have been completed by June, however we have had a few
surprises along the way, but we are presently dealing with them.
The meetings are reaching the closing stage and a date will
be announced soon," he assured.
The CEO noted that preparations for the
pageant are continuing and urged all representatives worldwide
to "stay focused because we are confident in the Miss Star
product as a tourism promotional tool for the lucky country
that will host the 2009 event."
At this stage, he noted, the names of
the two countries vying to host the 2009 pageant will be kept
covert. "Surprises are good for the soul", he said
at a recent meeting in London. To date, 100 beauty queens are
expected to take part in the international pageant.
