The Miss Star Advisory and Select Committee is a group of experienced
and dedicated professionals with varied career backgrounds and
callings from across the world.
They bring to the table an international
prospective on pageantry, tourism development, banking and finance,
management, choreography and dance, and media.
All eyes are on spotlighting tourism
destinations and cultural heritage sites and monuments that
are often overlooked by mainstream holidaymakers and tourists.
Meet the Miss Star Advisory and Select Committee:
CEO - Ken Chung
Ken CHUNG is the CEO of Miss Star International
(producers of Miss Star ). Before now, Chung was the Director
of K.M Chung Promotions and National Director for the Miss World
Organisation Guyana (www.miss-guyana.org). He also holds the
position of International Agent for Miss Teen World Trinidad
(www.missteen-world.com); International Agent for Miss Commonwealth
Beauty Pageant Jamaica (www.misscommonwealthpageant.com); National
Director for Miss Model International St Martin (missmodelinternational.com)
and Director and Coordinator for the Miss Tourism World, Zimbabwe
2005.
Born in 1949 into a devout and pious
Christian family in Guyana, South America, Chung was raised
and instilled with a strong sense of entrepreneurism and mercantile
foresight. Educated in the United Kingdom, Chung has lived in
the UK since 1964. He brings an immense wealth of pageantry
knowledge and organizational expertise.
Strategic Director - Keith Bradley
Keith Bradley was involved in the defence
industry for the first half of his career working at a senior
level in the UK, Japan, Hong Kong and the USA, initially in engineering
and then progressing into marketing and corporate strategy. Since
1991 he has also been in the telecoms sector in a wide range of
capacities, a board director of the original Orange plc company
in the early 90's and then with Hutchison Telecom from 1995 based
in the Far East and then Israel. He was the first employee in
2000 of Hutchison's 3G UK company (now branded 'Three') serving
as the Commercial Director and Deputy CEO for 3 years, he then
returned to Hong Kong to help Hutchison build up a telecoms manufacturing
business. In 2006 he left the Hutchison Group to set up his own
consulting practice, Bosham Consulting. Bosham's clients include
Itochu and Nano Media from Japan - where Keith is Chairman of
their European business, Quadrille from Dubai, Business Futures
and The Foundation. He is also a director of several other companies.
Director - Ansel Wong
Ansel is a true Trini by birth, culture
and allegiance. He has been instrumental in promoting all aspects
of his nation's culture, particularly Carnival and Caribbean Language
and Literature. Like many of his fellow countrymen, he has lived
more years in the UK than in Trinidad and during that time has
achieved some notable milestones. These included being responsible
for the designation of October as Black History Month; the founding
of the Indo-Caribbean Society and the Fatel Rozack group promoting
good relations between the Asian and African communities in London;
the CLR James Supplementary School and The Black Arts Workshop
aimed at young adults and The Caribbean Communications Project
teaching adults to read and write.
His publications include My Home in Trinidad (Macmillan's), Carnival
in Trinidad (Macmillan's), The Language of the Black Experience
(Blackwells), The Afro - Caribbean Presence in Britain (Early
Child Development and Care) and Our Story (Hansib Publications).
Ansel Wong is an Associate Director of Focus Consultancy Limited,
Europe's market leader in diversity and management consultancy.
He has a proven track record of success over many decades in working
for and with diverse communities and has a unique ability to communicate
across cultural barriers. His wide-ranging career has given him
experience of working at the most senior levels taking him through
public and charitable sectors and having included public appointments
as well as senior management positions.
Ansel is a Justice of the Peace and a Fellow of the RSA. He held
several appointments as Non-Executive Director and Chair of a
number of Health and NHS organisations in London and community
and voluntary sector organisation working in the arts, including
the Notting Hill Carnival.
Official Designer - Derek Moore
A native of Georgetown, Guyana,
Derek Moore is famous in South America and the Caribbean for
his peculiar wraps, artistic blend of colours and one-of-a-kind
creations. He's a pace-setter whose clients include Guyana's
beauties at the Miss World Pageant (1999-2005) and Miss Universe
Pageant (2003-2004), Miss Guyana UK 1995 and Miss World 2003.
Moore is grouped with leading Caribbean designers like Heather
Jones and has showcased at Fashion World, Super Fest, Caribbean's
and Craft and the Miss Tourism World, Zimbabwe 2005.
His vibrant career spans more than 10
years and has been widely covered by the media in South America
and the Caribbean, the latest being the much talked about cover
shot of Guyana's Entertainment Magazine (GEM).
Influenced by all cultures, his stylish
and cutting-edge creations have won him Guyana's Best Designer
Award in 2003 and 2004. Born in 1966, Moore brings his unique
touch of style and run-away creative skills.
Production Director - Caron du Plessis
Caron du Plessis is the founder of The
Evolution Event Management and Production, one of the hottest
events management and production companies in South Africa.
du Plessis has more than 10 years experience
in the delivery of world class events such as product and media
launches, top fashion and road shows, stage production, conferencing,
market research exhibitions and awards ceremonies.
Through extensive research and practical
application her clients are guaranteed the best creative concept,
precise implementation and expert project execution.
A native of South Africa, her success
comes from having an intelligent, creative and dedicated team
of professionals committed to client satisfaction. Together
they have 18 years experience in events management and production.
du Plessis impressive clientele includes
an ANC Fundraising Gala Banquet for former South African President
Nelson Mandela, SAB Castle Premiership Awards, Discovery Platinum
Prestige Award, Endemol - Big Brother VIP Eviction Parties,
Estee Lauder Intuition Launch, Toyota Corolla 2002 Launch, Ericsson
and MTV live links Party and Elle and Guess Look of the Year.
She has also assisted with the recent Miss Tourism pageant in
Zimbabwe, the A1 Grandprix and the Mvelapanda Soccer launch.
A mother of one, du Plessis and her team strive for flawless
delivery of every project.
Director - Donald Sinclair
Donald Sinclair is the Programme Convener
for Tourism Studies at the University of Guyana, South America,
a visiting Instructor in Tourism at Florida Gulf Coast University
and Project Coordinator for the OAS/USAID Small Tourism Enterprises
Project in Guyana.
Born in Guyana, his knowledge of product
development, marketing and tourism awareness policies secured
him a two-year tenure as Founding Executive Director of the Guyana
Tourism Authority. He is also the former General Secretary of
the Guyana Amateur and Fitness Federation and was named the Guyana
Sports Personality of the Year 2004.
Sinclair holds qualifications in Literature,
International Relations and Tourism and is currently doing research
for his Doctor of Management in Tourism. His hard-line articles
on Tourism have been published in Guyana, the Caribbean and the
UK.
He has also judged and given assistance
in the preparation of a number of Pageants - the Guyana African
Heritage Pageant, the Miss Guyana Universe, the Miss Guyana Renaissance
Pageant and the Miss Caricom Pageant.
Director - Dr Christopher Johnson
Christopher Adrian Johnson is an
eminent author, researcher and business management scientist.
His academic and professional career has spanned many years and
he brings a wealth of business and financial experience to his
new position.
Born and raised in Guyana, Johnson attended
the Extra Mural Department of the University of Guyana. Upon completing
his studies, he continued his academic education in the United
Kingdom, attending Cambridge University, the City Business College
in London and Atlantic University College, Scotland.
Johnson has enjoyed a long and distinguished
career, both in his native Guyana and overseas in the United Kingdom.
In addition to his professional duties, he has published numerous
books and articles, reports and conference papers covering the
extensive range of his expertise.
Johnson also has a proud record of public
service and fund-raising activities which have benefited many
individuals, organisations and communities. In recognition of
both his professional and humanitarian contributions to society,
he has received numerous honours and awards.
Security Strategist- John Fitch
Security Strategist John Fitch is a technical
security engineer for Mildenhall Enterprises in the USA and UK
and executive with JKS Executive Services in the UK.
He comes from a military background,
having served as Section Commander in the British Army in the
Rapid Response Unit and Special Operations Group. Fitch has extensive
knowledge of firearm, security systems, hand-to-hand combat and
citizen protection.
His work for the British Government
included security at Brunei Embassy and as part of the protection
team for Prince Kaliud, Princess Lativa, & Princess Hessa.
Fitch was also on the security team
for former South African President Nelson Mandela 1996 UK state
visit and the 1992 Emir of Kuwait UK state visit, among other
high profile operations. His impressive work details include assignments
in Moscow, Miami, West Africa, Amsterdam, Brunei Royal family,
Royal Saudi Bank, and with H.R.H. Princess Hiffa.
This Brit is sought after by major
private firms in the UK, Europe and US for technical security
advice.
Fitch heads up our security team.
Make Up Artist - Kiri Davies
Kiri Davies is a leading beauty and fitness
specialists in Zimbabwe. She makes over and gives fashion tips
to some of Zimbabwe's leading females. Her TV - `Make Over' -
is the number one make-up programme on Zimbabwe Television.
This year Davies celebrates 12 years as
owner of a top beauty clinic, gym and modeling agency. Her expertise
in skin treatment and make-up secured her the position of official
make-up artist for the 2005 Miss Tourism World pageant held in
her homeland.
Davies is the person everyone in Zimbabwe's
pageantry industry calls upon to organise fashion shows and beauty
pageants.
Carolyn Baldwin is the founder of Pageants
SA (www.pageants.co.za) and is the only person in South Africa
approved by EPIC International as an international judge and pageant
organiser. Her days as Bike South Africa magazine cover model
and face of Helena Rubenstein advertisements has made her a celebrity
on the continent.
She holds a diploma in teaching from Brakpan
Technical College and is also a qualified beauty therapist and
sharp businesswoman.
Baldwin's dedication and knowledge of
development, saw her and hubby owning 15 branches of the highly
successful Winpack Autoglass until the late 90's when the couple
sold all the offices, except the East Rand branch.
With her attention on pageantry, she turned
Pageants SA into the driving force behind the growing South African
pageantry industry in less than 10 years. Baldwin and her team
are responsible for Miss Jr South Africa, Miss and Mr Africa,
Miss Teen International, King and Queen of the Ocean and Miss
and Mr Jnr South Africa. Her motto is pride, honesty, fairness,
equality, fun and integrity.
Official Information Technologist-Len
Lilley
Information Technologist Len Lilley has
close to 30 years experience in radio, television electronics
and industries.
He has worked for companies like BBC, British
Airports Authority, Mercury Communication, and International Marine
Radio Communication.
Lilley's an expert information and database
systems technologist.
With an MSCs in Information Systems and
Database Systems and a BA in Science, who would have thought he
would also be a skilled photographer and Publisher/Editor of Magazine
"Guyanese Abroad".

the gorgeous Halle Berry and brilliant leading man Tom .
His portfolio is like a portable rich,

His exceptional images have graced several
UK and international magazines. Frank was also the official photographer
at the Miss Tourism World Pageant in Zimbabwe. This Brit never
